At Burnett Medical Centre, we have invested in state-of-the-art equipment that involves non-invasive, fully dressed treatments using the Emsella urinary incontinence device.
Emsella is a painless, FDA and TGA Approved solution for incontinence with no downtime.
Patients firstly come in for an assessment and then if eligible you will be recommended a typical course of six treatments with top up treatments every three to four months to maintain your continence for the longer term.
Each treatment involves sitting for 20 to 30 minutes on the Emsella chair. You will be fully clothed and experience a light contracting sensation of the internal muscles in your pelvis. This process strengthens the entire pelvic floor, which can lead to improved bladder control and reduced bladder leakage issues associated with urinary incontinence.
The Emsella chair gives over 11,000 “supramaximal contractions” which are similar to Kegel / pelvic floor contractions, but much stronger, strengthening and tightening the entire pelvic floor.
The process is painless although patients do describe the sensation of the muscle contractions as a bit “weird”. There are no side effects and the Emsella treatments can only improve your continence situation from less severe to fully restored bladder function.
